Florbela Espanca Biography |
Florbela de Alma Conceicao Espanca (Vila Viçosa 1894-Matosinhos 1930) was a Portuguese poet.
She lived her childhood in Évora. In 1917, she became the first Portuguese woman to study Law at the University of Lisbon. She made her literary debut two years later.
Despite having married three times, she was unfortunate at love, which is reflected in several of her poems.
Her most famous work was Charneca em flor (1930). |
